Pete Hegseth, the new Secretary of Defence of the USA, plans to visit Europe. He will meet with NATO allies. On 12th February, he will participate in the Ramstein meeting in Brussels.
The new Secretary of Defence of the USA, Pete Hegseth, is preparing for a visit to Europe. As reported by Politico, Hegseth will take part in the 26th meeting of the Ramstein format contact group.
It will take place on 12th February in Brussels. For the first time, it will not be led by the United States. The previous Ramstein meeting, which took place in January 2025, was led by the then Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin.

The administration of President Donald Trump has asked the British Defence Minister John Healey for the United Kingdom to take over the leadership in the group and convene the allies. The meeting on 12th February will be dedicated to the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.
Hegseth's visit is not the only important event involving American politicians in Europe. U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance plans to participate in the Munich Security Conference, which will begin on 14th February.
This will be the first visit of a member of Donald Trump's administration to Germany. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has expressed a willingness to meet with Vance, if time permits.
