New Kawasaki motocross and enduro models rev up for 2025
Kawasaki has been offering motocross motorcycles and enduro machines for decades. These categories might not have experienced significant revolutions, but they constantly evolve. After all, we are talking about machines used for fun and participation in sports competitions.
For the 2025 model year, the Japanese have prepared two new additions. The first is the cross KX250 and its cross-country variant named KX250X (with 53- and 46-centimetre tyres). Changes in the engine and its components aim to improve power at low speeds and throttle feel when exiting turns. Handling is also expected to benefit from frame and suspension upgrades, which have been transplanted from the top-end KX450, updated a year earlier.
Kawasaki also boasts improved ergonomics - grips and bodywork designed to make balancing on the motorcycle easier. New electronic features relate to riding modes and traction control, and their settings can be controlled via a handlebar switch. Additionally, connecting the bike to a smartphone and setting the engine map using an app is possible.
Although Kawasaki also offers the mentioned KX250X, the model designed specifically for enduro or longer off-road routes is the KLX230R, which now debuts in the upgraded S version. An important new feature is that the ignition is now secured and started with a key - after all, such machines can be left in public places. The second most crucial change is the expansion of the fuel tank to 7.6 litres and its construction from steel instead of plastic.
New KX models inspired the design of the Kawasaki KLX230R S. Thanks to the redesigned subframe, the seat is somewhat lower (86 centimetres). Comfort has also been improved by using a thicker seat cushion—8 centimetres thick, about 0.6 centimetres more than before. Engineers have also refined the 233cc engine, among other things, by reducing vibrations and decreasing the intake valve.
