Netflix's "Bridgertons" season three breaks viewership records
"Bridgertons" is one of the biggest hits in Netflix's history. The series gained popularity not only because of its plot full of intrigues and romances but (maybe above all) because of its many intimate scenes. The third season is currently breaking popularity records. Over the weekend, 45 million viewers watched it.

The third season of "Bridgertons" has launched. This time, the platform's servers held up, despite being heavily overloaded. No Netflix hit has enjoyed such popularity over the past twelve months. The costume drama amassed 45 million viewers in the first four days. This is the best result since the streaming platform started reporting the number of viewers for their programmes (i.e., since June 2023).
Previously, Netflix only reported the number of hours a film or series was watched. The third season of "Bridgertons" generated 165 million hours worldwide. In March 2023, "The Night Agent" achieved a slightly better result (169 million hours). The opening result for the second season of "Bridgertons" is also known – 193 million hours. However, let's add that in 2022, all eight episodes were released on the platform on the same day. The third season has been split into two parts (the second will premiere on 13 June).
The latest instalment of the series focuses on the relationship between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), affectionately called #Polin by fans. Let's remember that the lady's infatuation ended momentarily when she heard some dismissive words about her from the object of her affection.
In an interview with "Stylist" magazine, the actress admitted that she insisted on more intimate scenes involving her because she wanted to spite people who criticised her appearance. "There’s one scene where I’m very naked on camera, and that was my idea, my choice. It just felt like the biggest ‘fuck you’ to all the conversation surrounding my body; it was amazingly empowering," she added. "I felt beautiful at the moment, and I thought: ‘When I’m 80, I want to look back on this and remember how fucking hot I looked," said Nicola Coughlan.
