Mystery monoliths reappear: Puzzling structure found near Las Vegas

In 2020, mysterious monoliths started appearing in different parts of the world. Some even contained enigmatic messages. Many indications suggested that they "sprouted" only during a limited period about four years ago. However, as IFL Science reports, the monoliths have returned. Officers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department discovered one.

"We see a lot of strange things when people go hiking, such as being unprepared for the weather or not having enough water... but look at this. Over the weekend, [Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department] spotted this mysterious monolith near Gass Peak, north of the valley," reported the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on platform X.

The monolith mentioned by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was found near Gass Peak, the highest peak in Las Vegas in southern Nevada. Despite much speculation, it is still unclear when it was placed there or who might be behind it. This is the latest example in a series of similar events that previously took place in Romania, the United States, and Turkey.

The first monolith was found in a mountainous wilderness in 2020 in Red Rock County, Utah. A team of biologists accidentally discovered it. At that time, the US Department of Public Safety declared that the structure was illegal. An investigation conducted by internet users with the help of Google Maps determined that the monolith was erected between August 2015 and October 2016. This means it remained unnoticed for four years. It has now been dismantled.

Although several artists have been named as potential creators of the monoliths appearing in various places, the true identity of the constructor remains a mystery. Some assume that the monoliths might be artistic projects or simply movie props left by their creators.
