Recalling events from Friday, March 22, armed individuals launched an assault on the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Krasnogorsk, close to Moscow. The attackers fired on the audience, and there were also reports of explosives being detonated. Consequently, a fire broke out, leading to the collapse of the building's roof.
The Islamic State Khorasan province has acknowledged planning the attack.
According to Russian officials, four attackers have been captured and are reported to be foreign nationals. These individuals were detained in the Bryansk region.

Putin's statement

Almost 20 hours following the outset of the attack, Vladimir Putin stated the matter. He assured in a special announcement that everyone involved in the “bloody and barbaric attack” would face consequences.

He further emphasized that support would be provided to all victims and their families, announcing that Sunday, March 24, would be a day of national mourning in Russia.

Putin also described Friday's attack as not merely “a meticulously and cynically prepared attack but as an organized mass murder of defenceless civilians,” comparing the perpetrators to Nazis.

“All the executors, organizers, and sponsors will face fair and inevitable punishment,” he declared.

“We are fully aware of the threat of terrorism. We rely on the cooperation of all states that genuinely empathize with our suffering and are ready to actively engage in combating the shared enemy of international terrorism,” he added.
