As reported on Thursday by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, during the morning hours, Russian drones violated Moldovan airspace. A similar incident was reported on the same day by the Romanian Ministry of Defence.

Sandu announced on social media that several Russian drones had breached Moldovan airspace, with two of them exploding on Moldovan territory. She shared her post alongside a photograph of a destroyed drone fragment, stressing that this incident is yet another occurrence in recent months.

In mid-October last year, the authorities in Chisinau reported—at that time regarding missile debris found near the border with Ukraine—that it was the fifth incident since February 2022, when remnants of missiles and other military equipment were discovered on Moldovan territory. This summary did not include the overflight of foreign missiles over Moldovan land.

Violation of Moldovan airspace. Russian ambassador summoned

As reported by the portal jurnal.md on Thursday, due to the serious breach of Moldovan airspace by Russian drones, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs urgently summoned the Russian ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov.

The Moldovan side also expressed strong protest against these actions. The portal conveys that the Russian diplomat was informed that these actions constitute a violation of the country's sovereignty and represent another unfriendly gesture from the Russian Federation.

Additionally, it was decided to show the ambassador parts of the drones found on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The politician found them arranged before him on the table. A recording shared online captured his initial reaction.
