The easyJet plane, travelling from Antalya to London, had to make an unscheduled landing in Athens because of the disruptive behaviour of two male passengers. One of the passengers, who was shirtless, initiated an argument with other travellers.
According to a report published by the "Daily Mail," the situation escalated when passengers began insulting each other as the cabin crew attempted to calm them down.
The entire incident was recorded by passengers, and the video was published on TikTok. It shows a shirtless man moving along the aisle, bothering fellow passengers.
Another passenger, who was wearing a white jacket, further escalated the situation. Ultimately, the stewards managed to restrain the aggressor and direct him to the back of the plane.
Drunk passengers on board. Pilot changes course
Due to the disruption, the plane had to change course and land at Athens airport. The police were waiting at the scene and detained both passengers involved in the commotion.
Internet users quickly voiced their opinions. Some suggested that airlines should impose hefty fines on passengers who disrupt orders and even introduce lifetime bans for such behavior.
Onboard brawl. Airlines speak out
An easyJet spokesperson confirmed that the flight from Antalya to Gatwick on 1st October was diverted to Athens due to "two passengers behaving inappropriately."
The airline also issued a statement emphasising that the safety of passengers and crew is "always an absolute priority" and that such incidents are taken very seriously.
While such situations are rare, they often attract significant attention and serve as a reminder of the issue of alcohol abuse during flights, leading to increasing calls for stricter regulations.
