On Friday, the Microsoft Windows operating system failed globally due to an error in an update from the antivirus company CrowdStrike. This caused worldwide paralysis. Wizz Air will refund customers whose flights were cancelled for this reason.
Online ticket booking and online check-in services are now available. WIZZ credits offered for cancelled or delayed flights are available in the customer's account on the Wizz Air website and can be used to book a flight with the carrier.
However, suppose the traveller decides to change the reservation or wants a refund through another payment method used to purchase the ticket. In that case, they can apply through the hotline and the official Wizz Air website.
Wizz Air has stated that the systems are now functioning correctly.
Global Microsoft system failure
Many companies and institutions worldwide felt the effects of the global failure. Two simultaneous failures occurred—one concerning Azure software, a cloud platform used for managing applications and services, and the other related to an antivirus software update from the external company CrowdStrike.
According to data from the aviation analytics company Cirium, 1,390 flights were cancelled worldwide, with 512 in the United States. A total of 110,000 flights were scheduled for Friday.
