Microsoft Edge to revolutionize web video viewing with real-time AI translations
The forthcoming feature in the Microsoft Edge browser was spotlighted by LifeHacker, citing a post by user Leopeva64 on X. The feature, which has been in development in Canary releases since last October, initially presented a non-functional translation button. Currently, it promises to generate translated audio and subtitles for videos via artificial intelligence as a part of Copilot.

Although the new Edge feature isn't live yet, the interface appears ready for its imminent launch. It suggests that AI will manage to translate films "in a few seconds." Users will have the option to select both the original and the desired languages and decide if they prefer subtitles, voiceover, or both.
While Microsoft acknowledges the translations may not be perfect, the innovation could be a boon for accessing content in unfamiliar languages. This real-time video translation feature, which includes an audible option, could particularly benefit those who prefer not to rely on subtitles, similar to certain YouTube offerings.
