It is unknown how this horrific tragedy came about or what breed the dog was — investigators have deliberately kept this detail confidential for now to avoid speculation. However, it is known that the ten-year-old girl, like other family members, interacted with the animal daily.

On that fateful day, the household pet abruptly became aggressive and attacked the child. The bites were so severe that they resulted in the girl's death.

The British authorities reported the tragedy in Malton. Police officers and paramedics received a call around 4:15 PM Greenwich Mean Time concerning a house in North Yorkshire.

The victim was a child, and the assailant was an aggressive dog. Before the authorities arrived, a family member was able to catch the animal and secure it in a car parked in the driveway.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police reported that in spite of the efforts of the paramedics and a witness who came to aid the family, the girl died at the scene from her injuries.

Our thoughts are with the girl's family and friends during this particularly difficult time. Officers are supporting the family during the investigation. We also ask people not to speculate about the incident, to respect the family's privacy, and to allow them to grieve in peace — they wrote in an official statement.

The dog was taken to a kennel by officers, and investigators will look into what caused the sudden change in its behaviour.
