The new government of Mali has ended diplomatic cooperation with Ukraine after scores of Malian soldiers and mercenaries from the Russian Wagner Group were killed in a bloody attack. They argue that Ukraine itself admitted to having played a role in the attack. Now, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has spoken on the matter.

Many of the reports coming from Russian media and government representatives are likely untrue. Such reports could be part of an information war from the Russian Federation.

The war in Ukraine continues. Russia attacked our neighbouring country in February 2022. This does not stop the Kremlin from accusing Ukraine of attacking Moscow and other cities in Russia.

The propaganda agency TASS quotes the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova. She took the opportunity to attack Ukraine following the Malian government's decision to sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine. This came after Ukraine's alleged involvement in the attack on Russian soldiers from the Wagner Group and Malian soldiers. Representatives of the Tuareg people from northern Mali killed over 100 enemy fighters at the end of July. For the Russians, this was their biggest defeat in Africa to date. The Tuaregs posed for photos with the Ukrainian flag after the event.

We will continue to draw the attention of the international community, including on multilateral platforms, to Kyiv's barbaric behaviour - emphasises Zakharova.

Then came absurd remarks about a "second front" in Africa allegedly being opened by Ukraine. Let us remember that it is the Russians who have been present in Africa for years, and the Wagner Group were accused of massacres - including in the town of Mora in Mali, where over 300 civilians were killed in 2022.

After the failed attempt to defeat Russia on the battlefield, Vladimir Zelensky's criminal regime decided to open a "second front" in Africa. He and his accomplices are pampering terrorist groups in countries on the continent friendly to Moscow - says Zakharova.

She added that she understands the motives of the Malian authorities, who want to sever diplomatic relations with the regime in Kyiv. - The fact that Kyiv collaborates with terrorists is no surprise. It continues to use terrorist methods on the territory of our country, carrying out sabotage and political assassinations, as well as regularly shelling civilian infrastructure - believes Zakharova.
