Lukashenko's hands-on approach to boost Belarus' farming productivity
The Belarusian authorities are taking crop productivity seriously. Government officials are venturing into rural areas to inspect the sowing quality personally. Seed quality and strict adherence to cultivation techniques for certain plants have become a top priority for the government, as highlighted by Alexander Lukashenko's recent remarks.

Alexander Lukashenko, accompanied by a delegation of officials, inspected the sown fields.
"Where is the minister? Look for the seed!" commanded the leader. The obliging minister knelt in a ploughed field and searched the soil with his hands, finally locating the seeds to his relief.
"Presidential field"
These checks follow the heated discussions from a party executive meeting two weeks ago. The discussions highlighted the performance of domestic seeds versus imported ones as part of a broader agenda aimed at improving rural development and agricultural efficiency.
As Belta, the Belarusian state news agency, reported, crop yield experts discussed domestic hybrid corn varieties. The meeting stressed that without the Belarusian-developed hybrid strains, the country would face a shortage of fodder.
Alexander Lukashenko has established a special "presidential field", covering approximately 3,500 hectares at the border of the Vitebsk and Mogilev regions.
"This wasn’t done for amusement. We tested everything recommended by the scientists, including domestic corn varieties and imported seeds. I wanted to see the results for myself. I can tell you this: if you adhere to the recommended cultivation methods, there's no advantage in purchasing imported seeds for corn or any other crops. Neglect the proper techniques, and you'll face grievances and complaints," Lukashenko explained.
