The incident was reported by the Argentinian newspaper "La Nacion", which stated that the musician was found dead after falling from the third floor of a hotel. This tragic event occurred at the Casa Sur hotel in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires.

It was revealed that the hotel staff had earlier contacted the police in a state of panic due to the behaviour of one of the guests. The authorities were informed about an "aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol."
According to the "Daily Mail" newspaper portal, citing local media, Liam had been "acting erratic in the hotel lobby earlier -- he smashed his laptop," after which he was "carried back to his room." The service also included a snippet of the hotel staff's conversation with the police. They noted that damage was occurring due to a guest's aggression.
"When he is conscious, he is destroying the entire room and we need you to send someone," one of the employees reportedly stated.
In an interview with the Argentinian newspaper "Clarin", Alberto Crescenti, the head of the emergency services, indicated that Payne suffered very serious injuries after falling from the third floor onto the hotel's inner courtyard. His identity was confirmed via his passport. Upon arrival at the scene, the paramedics pronounced him dead on the spot.
"There was no way to do anything," Crescenti summarised.
