Lemon cure: Transform unsightly heels with citrus magic

Rough and unsightly heels can be quite bothersome, no matter the time of year. Often, we don’t have the time to book a pedicure, or there simply isn’t enough money in the household budget. However, this doesn’t mean we have to accept the problem. There is a straightforward method we can use — and the key ingredient is likely already in your fridge!

To care for our feet, we often purchase more and more ointments and creams from the chemist’s. Instead, it’s worth saving money and trying a home remedy. It is incredibly affordable, and the results will be superb. You only need one ingredient. Which one? A lemon.

It’s currently citrus season, and you can find lovely mandarins, oranges, and lemons in shops. It’s worth picking them up and using them not only for eating as a snack or as an addition to your winter tea. They can work wonders when used in home care.

Use lemon this way. The effect is impressive!

Due to the high acid content in lemons, their juice will soften the skin of your feet. However, be cautious — if your heels are cracked and lemon juice seeps into those cracks, the sensation will be quite uncomfortable.

To be more eco-friendly, you can make use of the whole lemon for this treatment. How? First, squeeze out all the juice, which can then be used for cooking or cleaning, and utilise the peel with some pulp inside for your cosmetic treatment.

Lemon compress overnight. What will it work on?

Apply the peel to the callused skin of your heels, wrap it with a bandage, or slip on a sock, and go to sleep. In the morning, remove the compress and rinse your skin. It should feel softened and appear lightened overnight. This method is also effective on corns. It is important to remember that lemon has antiseptic properties and can speed up healing, but be very cautious not to use it on open wounds, abrasions, or cracked skin — it will be very uncomfortable.
