It's hard to imagine a home without a washing machine. After all, we create a "mountain" of laundry every day. Although it might seem that this appliance requires a lot of electricity and water, it can be quite the opposite. You just need to know which programme is best to use in this case.

Washing machine programme that lowers bills

One of the most effective ways to lower bills is to use the ECO mode. According to manufacturers, it uses significantly less water and energy compared to standard settings.

The most important factor here is the washing time. Although the ECO programme usually lasts up to 4 hours, it doesn't mean it costs us more money. A longer cycle at a lower temperature allows for effective stain removal with minimal resource use.

This is also reflected in numbers, which washing machine manufacturers are eager to boast about. Some of them claim that by using the ECO programme, we use about 38% less water and about 33% less energy compared to the popular cotton programme.

Washing at lower temperatures

Using the ECO programme also brings other benefits. It's worth remembering that clothes washed at high temperatures wear out much faster. They may shrink or even fade. This is exactly why it is extremely important to read the label, which contains detailed information about which washing cycle will be best in this case.

This does not mean, however, that by following the manufacturer's recommendations, clothes will still look great even after many washes. That is exactly why it’s good to set the washing machine to low temperatures, which are a bit less damaging to fabrics.
