Leah Remini, star of "Cheers" and "The King of Queens," is divorcing her long-time partner, businessman Angelo Pagán. New court documents reveal the couple's plans regarding alimony.
Another couple in American show business is ending their marriage. Leah and Angelo met in 1996 at the El Floridita club in Los Angeles, and their love endured many challenges. It’s worth noting that Leah was a member of the Church of Scientology until 2013. She has been actively fighting the organisation, which she calls a cult. She is litigating against them, revealing the behind-the-scenes operations and creating TV shows about them. "As some of you know, since I escaped Scientology in 2013, their agents have been constantly monitoring me. These people hide in the shadows to monitor my movements and whom I meet with to report back to the intelligence agency – the Office of Special Affairs, which directly reports to David Miscavige" (leader of the Church of Scientology – ed.), she wrote some time ago.
Leah Remini is divorcing her husband
As we reported at the end of August this year, Remini decided to divorce her husband. She was the first to file documents in court. Shortly afterwards, she posted a lengthy message on social media accompanied by pictures with Angelo. She beautifully wrote about their relationship, which had to end.
"We are proud of how we’ve worked through things together. Yes, we are sad, but we must continue our lives separately, in a new normal, although still in many ways together. What is important: we have been best friends for many years. We still celebrate holidays together, watch our favourite shows, and meet as a family," she wrote on Instagram.
Now, according to "People," it is confirmed that the couple will not fight each other. Angelo Pagán also filed divorce documents in court, where he stated that the reason for the divorce is "irreconcilable differences," which Leah also indicated. The businessman and the actress will not go to court over alimony.
According to the American magazine, they have given up fighting over finances. At the same time, everyone learned from new court documents that the couple has been officially separated since 1 August.

- In the programme, we have the story of two brothers who took their own lives one after the other because they couldn’t bear their family's breakup. They suffered because of the rule adopted by Jehovah’s Witnesses that if someone leaves, all contact with them is severed. There are also stories about children who died because their parents did not consent to blood transfusions. And these are not exceptions. Unfortunately, these stories happen often – she said in an interview with us.
- Women who are beaten by their husbands are told that they just need to be good wives. To me, that’s disgusting. I would never want my daughter to grow up believing she is inferior to a man. What does this organisation teach? That women are inferior? What are men being taught? You know, I don’t expect people to blindly believe me, but there are serious issues that we as a society should discuss. There are blogs, there are accounts – just read what former Jehovah’s Witnesses say about it. I’m not the first person to bring up negative issues, and I certainly won’t be the last – the actress recounted.
