Lamborghini recalls 2133 Urus SUVs over hood detachment risk

The Lamborghini sports SUV is one of the most expensive cars in the world. Unfortunately, even these high-end vehicles have their flaws. The Italians have just announced a recall concerning... the engine hood.

In some units, the hood may detach from the vehicle, especially when driving at higher speeds. As you can easily imagine, the consequences of this defect can be severe and, in extreme cases, deadly.

This issue may affect 2133 units in the Performance and S versions produced between 2023 and 2024. The manufacturer claims the defect occurs in no more than 2 percent of the units, but they prefer to be cautious.

Lamborghini informs us that some cars have defective rivets that secure the hood latch. At speeds above 145 km/h, these can result in excessive gaps between the bumper and the hood and, consequently, its detachment.

The first reports regarding this issue appeared in August of last year. At that time, there were two warranty claims concerning improper fitting of the hood and fender. In February 2024, in Indonesia, the hood spontaneously detached while an Urus was in motion.

Following this incident, Lamborghini immediately changed the rivet supplier and resolved the problem. However, they must implement improvements in the units that have already been sold. Their owners will be notified of the issue and invited to service.
