The attack occurred in Zurich, Switzerland. According to media reports, three children were injured, including one who sustained serious injuries. Following this dramatic incident, the assailant was quickly subdued.

In Zurich, a 23-year-old man of Chinese origin attacked a group of children who were being escorted to kindergarten by a staff member. According to BBC reports, thanks to the quick reaction of the kindergarten staff and a bystander, the assailant was subdued and prevented from causing further harm.

As a result of this tragic event, a five-year-old boy sustained serious injuries and is currently in hospital, where doctors are fighting to save his life. Two other children were treated at the scene for less severe injuries.

Knife attack in Switzerland

The police have not yet disclosed the motives for the attack, leaving many questions about the reasons behind this tragic incident. According to preliminary information, the attack took place on Tuesday, 1 October, just after 11:00 GMT, near the popular Bernina shopping centre, located in the Oerlikon district in northern Zurich.

According to the BBC, the investigation is ongoing. Intensive efforts are being made to establish the details of the attack. Local media reported that heavily armed police officers were on the scene, securing the area. Swiss media also reported that police searched a nearby residential building.
