The situation is dramatic. The Kenya Red Cross, via social media, reported that it has rescued more than 90 people. They were moved to a safer area, and most of the affected camps have been closed.
In some camps, tents have been swept away, and the Mara Bridge, linking the Mara Triangle and the Greater Mara, has been washed away, - reported the Kenya Red Cross on X service.
Local authorities, mentioned by the Kenyan newspaper "The Standard," stated that some tourists might face difficulties returning to their countries, as the routes to Nairobi are blocked.
The renowned Masai Mara is a favoured destination for tourists and a sanctuary for the so-called big five - that is, lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffalo, but also includes giraffes, hippos, and cheetahs.

Reports also show that the floods and landslides in Kenya have led to the deaths of at least 181 people, with hundreds of thousands displaced from their homes. Several individuals are still missing.
In the most severe single incident, around 50 residents of one village lost their lives following the rupture of a dam in the Rift Valley on Monday. Forecasters predict that heavy rains will persist over the next few days.
