After replacing Joe Biden in the presidential election, Kamala Harris is being scrutinised in detail by the media. This time, the local portals report that she has a distinctive feature that she never parts with a pearl necklace. It has special value for the current vice president, allowing her to reminisce.

Kamala Harris, the current Vice President of the United States, has entered the presidential race in the upcoming election. She replaced Joe Biden in this fight. Her campaign is gaining momentum, and everyone is wondering if the former prosecutor will be able to defeat Donald Trump. The first debate between the candidates, set to take place from the night of 10 to 11 September (Greenwich Time), has become a flashpoint that might decide the fate of the election. Americans will go to the polls on 5 November.

Kamala Harris is 60 years old and has been associated with California for years, working as a prosecutor at various levels. She was born in Oakland, California, to a family of immigrants from Jamaica and India.

Many US citizens still regard the American vice president as a relatively unknown figure. The media scrutinise her wealth and fashion style. The 60-year-old's signature is her pearl necklaces. Joe Biden’s deputy wears this jewellery at almost every meeting, and this unique accessory can be seen in many photos published on social media, including those by herself.

According to American media, the pearls are a tribute to the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority—the first African American sorority at Howard University. Harris belonged to this group of students, which was referred to as the "Twenty Pearls." The group's goal was to train young women to become leaders in the future.

One of her necklaces has been valued at £9,000 and designed by American artist Irene Neuwirth. Kamala Harris can afford such expenses, as she earns £285,000 annually as the Vice President of the USA, and her financial statement indicates that she managed to accumulate nearly £400,000 last year.
