Despite many speculations about his health, Ramzan Kadyrov's position in Russia remains strong. This was evident from the recent meeting between the Chechen leader and Vladimir Putin. The President of Russia officially congratulated Kadyrov's son on his upcoming wedding. The media views him as his father's potential successor.

The war in Ukraine has been ongoing for over two years. During this period, significant changes occurred in the country governed by Vladimir Putin, especially in diplomatic relations with other leaders. One notable change involves Ramzan Kadyrov, ruling Chechnya for years.

Of course, relations between Putin and Kadyrov were already excellent before the war. However, the conflict in Ukraine significantly increased the Chechen leader's independence. The Kremlin leader has also been focused on further strengthening their relations.

As it turns out, much may change in the coming months. In Russia, rumours of Kadyrov's serious illness persist. He is said to be suffering from a fatal condition, which is weakening his position. Unsurprisingly, there are discussions about a potential successor to the Chechen leader.

Is he the successor of Ramzan Kadyrov in Chechnya?

A recent meeting with Vladimir Putin fueled rumours of a potential change in the head of Chechnya. Under the watchful eyes of cameras and photographers, he met with Kadyrov's 17-year-old son, Ali. It's no secret that the two men have met at least a few times before.

This time, the meeting was due to Vladimir Putin's desire to congratulate the 17-year-old, who will soon get married. Experts note that such an unusual meeting highlights Kadyrov's surprisingly strong position in Russia in recent months.

What's interesting, however, is the speculation that this meeting might be a way to anoint Ramzan Kadyrov's successor. This would make sense, as it's not the first time that the son of the current Chechen leader has appeared before Putin as a representative of his country. Moreover, this continues the inheritance of the Chechen "throne," which Ramzan took over from his father, Akhmad.
