Rogers' book, named "American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden", is anticipated to be available in the upcoming week.

Reuters reported that, per the journalist's narrative, when Biden chose not to run for president in 2004, he conveyed this to his colleagues. Upon the entry of his wife, Jill Biden, wearing a blouse with 'NO' emblazoned across the front, Biden, who is currently 81, announced that he had no higher ambition to pursue the presidency.

"I'd rather stay at home, being intimate with my wife, while our children sleep," he stated. This detail, although taking up only a few paragraphs in a sizeable 276-page book, has succeeded in piquing media interest.

Biden's comments sparked reaction

Biden's explicit claims about his marital life led the White House press spokesperson to shrug his shoulders. The spokesperson concluded that the then-Senator Biden was "authentically and completely in love with his wife", reports Rogers.

"Joe, by securing the presidency, may have refrained from public declarations about his private life, but he would jest with colleagues that 'good sex' is the key to a lasting, joyful marriage - much to his wife's dismay," remarked Rogers.

According to Reuters, the book refers to Biden's devastation following the death of his first wife, Neilia, and their daughter, Naomi, in a car accident in 1972. Biden wed Jill in 1977. However, before she accepted, the senator from Delaware had to propose to her five times.

"I was as patient as possible, but it was irritating. Either you decide to marry me, or that's it, I'm done. I won't ask again," Biden asserted in his fifth attempt. Rogers writes.
