Jennifer Lopez's streaming resurgence reignites her film career
She is one of the film stars who traded the big screen for the small one. The move to streaming was a good and necessary step, as there were no more prominent roles for Jennifer Lopez in Hollywood. Now, mainly due to Netflix productions, she is back on top.

The first streaming film with Jennifer Lopez was "The Mother," which appeared on Netflix in 2023. The sensational production garnered terrible reviews, but after a few days of streaming, critics were already rubbing their eyes in astonishment. "The Mother" became one of the biggest hits in streaming history, recording 136 million views worldwide.
The second Netflix film featuring the pop star was "Atlas." This year's science fiction production also enjoyed significant popularity, with a total of over 80 million views, though critics slammed it. Many criticisms were directed at the actress herself. "Lopez spends most of the movie in a small mechanical pod, marching in place in front of a green screen, arguing with a Siri rip-off. It’s very silly, but the movie treats it very seriously. The result is—you guessed it!—bad," wrote a critic from Decider.
In the eyes of critics, Lopez redeemed herself in the film Unstoppable, which was produced by Amazon Prime Video and had its grand premiere at the Toronto festival. The actress played the mother of a disabled athlete who becomes the national champion in wrestling. Netflix will produce the next streaming production with Lopez, a romantic comedy called Office Romance.
There is a chance that this time it will be a good film. Netflix will finance an original project by Brett Goldstein, who is a star and co-writer of the excellent comedy series "Ted Lasso," and also a two-time Emmy award winner. Lopez will, of course, be the main character in this office romance.
Hope for a good film also comes from the fact that the pop star, as an actress, best performed in romantic comedies. In this genre, she achieved her greatest successes on the big screen: "The Wedding Planner," "Maid in Manhattan," "Shall We Dance," and "Monster-in-Law." These films not only enjoyed great popularity but also received decent reviews.
