Intense storms that have been hitting central Europe are now reaching Italy, where warnings have been issued for most of the country regarding heavy rainfall, strong winds, and flooding. Flooding has already been noted in the city centre of Pescara, and weather alerts from the Italian meteorological service are in effect from the northern coast of Emilia-Romagna to the far south.
Rainfall has caused numerous disruptions in the Marche region, around Pesaro, Urbino, and Ancona. Tunnels and some roads have been flooded. Fire brigades are working tirelessly.
