Films and series dedicated to notable individuals continue to enjoy immense popularity. The series "The Crown", chronicling the British royal family, has been a massive success on Netflix. Similar acclaim applies to productions about artists, politicians, actors, fashion designers, and musicians. Just consider the numerous films dedicated to Elvis Presley to grasp the fascination with exploring the private lives of public figures.

Has Angela Merkel become a private detective?

In 2023, the series "Miss Merkel - Ein Uckermark-Krimi" premiered, depicting Angela Merkel post-retirement. The show's description notes: "After resigning from office, the chancellor moved to a small town in the Uckermark with her husband and dog. But initially it is not easy for her to leave the hectic city life and politics behind. But then there is a death. The ex-Chancellor finally has a job again."

In "Miss Merkel - Ein Uckermark-Krimi," Angela Merkel becomes a private detective charged with solving the mystery of Baron Philip von Baugenwitz's death. While opinions on the series are mixed, averaging around 5.4 stars out of 10, Italian television decided to purchase the rights to broadcast it.
