Interpol fugitives apprehended in Turkey with forged passports
Three individuals wanted by Interpol have been detained in Turkey. Among them is Aleksander G., a man born in Sweden who entered the country with a forged Polish passport. He and the other two detainees will face charges for drug-related crimes.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya announced on social media on Monday (29th July) the success of the Turkish services' operation. This operation captured three criminals, which international law enforcement agencies wanted.
Had a Polish passport. Swede arrested in Turkey
Among the detainees is Aleksander G. The man born in Sweden was wanted by an Interpol red notice for, among other things, drug trafficking, money laundering, and forgery. The suspect was in Turkey after entering the country using a fake Polish passport named "Aleksander Kawa". He was detained in the Besiktas district of Istanbul.
Additionally, law enforcement managed to detain two other criminals wanted by Interpol. The first of them is Dragan P., who is wanted by Montenegrin authorities. Interpol issued a red notice for him in connection with drug trafficking and participation in a criminal organisation. Officials in Istanbul captured the man on Monday (28th July). Dragan P. was involved in the transport of 1,500 litres of cocaine to Montenegro, Colombia, Ecuador, Australia, and the Netherlands. He was also involved in the transport of nearly 1,100 litres of cocaine from Ecuador.
The last of the detainees is Aleksander N., who is wanted by the Swedish justice system. He is charged with money laundering and drug-related crimes. He was captured in Bodrum. He entered Turkey with a forged Kosovo document.
The Minister of Internal Affairs admitted in June that the efforts of the services are focused on targeting high-ranking members of international gangs operating in Turkey. These actions appear to be yielding significant results. - Regardless of the type of arrest warrant, we will not allow international organised crime syndicates and drug traffickers to disturb the peace of our citizens. We will bring everyone to justice - Ali Yerlikaya declared.
