Influencer Ruby Franke guilty of child abuse: A grim tale of cruelty reveals global shock
Reports about Ruby Franke became globally infamous a few months ago when she and her business partner, Jodi Hilderbrandt, were arrested in August 2023. This occurred after one of Franke's children managed to escape their effectively imprisoning home. The boy was found by neighbours bearing marks from duct tape on his limbs, appearing neglected and malnourished, and with numerous injuries on his body. Franke and Hilderbrandt admitted to abusing the children, including starvation and waterboarding, in December of the same year.
Influencer convicted. Ruby Franke abused her own children
Recent reports from the American media announced that a court in Utah found the women guilty of their accused crimes. The final ruling is yet to be determined by the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole. The judge acknowledged four criminal actions from each of the women, each carrying a penalty of a minimum of one year to a maximum of fifteen years in prison.
In theory, those convicted could spend up to 60 years in prison, a sentence which would possibly equate to life imprisonment for them. However, Utah law only allows for a maximum of 30 years in prison for recurrent offences.
As the verdict was read, Ruby Franke appeared to be on the brink of tears. She professed her willingness to accept the impending punishment. Her statement to the court was peppered with trivial comments regarding "toxic behaviour" and "God's wisdom". It's worth correcting here - if you abuse your own children, you're not just toxic; you're monstrously cruel.
I will respectfully accept the punishment. I will serve it for as long as required. (…) I am committed to correcting my toxic behaviour. (…) I apologise for misrepresenting the words of God. I misrepresented his teachings, she stated in court.
