Jasmine Young, a Malaysian influencer, regularly shares snippets of her life with her followers. On her Instagram, followed by nearly half a million people, she mainly posts content related to travel and lifestyle. Young often posted pictures of her two-year-old son, Enzo. Recently, during a family trip to a hotel for Mother's Day, a tragedy occurred that resulted in the death of her child.
Jasmine detailed the events of that day. On 16 May, she, her husband, and her son decided to take a short nap. "As always, [Enzo] snuggled up next to us and drank milk before falling asleep. When I woke up, I found that he was not next to me," she explained in a post. That's when the absolute nightmare began.
The influencer's son has died. He drowned in the pool while his parents were napping
Although the door to the indoor pool was closed when they fell asleep, they discovered it was open when they woke up. Their son was in the pool. Additionally, network issues made it difficult to call for help. Faced with this dramatic situation, they immediately attempted resuscitation.
She mentioned they couldn't call for help. Enzo's father also went out the door to ask for help, but no one responded, as she mentioned in a post. "We hurriedly ran to the hotel lobby with the baby in our arms and asked the hotel staff to help call an ambulance and provide first aid until the ambulance arrived (...) Half an hour after being sent to the hospital for rescue, the baby finally recovered his heartbeat but was still in a coma," she wrote.
On 19 May, in the hospital, little Enzo's heart stopped, and Jasmine Young announced that her son "has become a happy little angel." The influencer also appealed to her followers not to "exaggerate, quote out of context, or make things out of nothing."
Condolences poured under the post—my condolences to you and your family. Rest in peace, little angel. Many comments have been read.
Netizens worldwide also commented that after such a family tragedy, the parents should take a break from social media instead of posting pictures from the funeral. The influencer even added a photo of the small coffin.
It’s sad to hear this, but it's time for remorse, not social media. Do you want more attention? Please give yourself time and don’t stay on social media. Have respect for your child - they wrote.
Some also questioned whether a two-year-old child could open the door to the pool on their own. Do you also wonder if a two-year-old is tall enough to open the door? - the netizens analysed.
