Indulge guilt-free: Baked doughnuts for a healthier treat

Fat Thursday is slowly approaching, but you can indulge in doughnuts even now, especially when they aren't as heavy and greasy as traditionally fried ones. When my friend brought them to work, the plate was quickly emptied.

A sweet doughnut is a delicious addition to coffee that can brighten even the gloomiest morning. You can choose from various flavours in bakeries, but the calorie chart can be quite off-putting. However, you can slim down the doughnuts a bit and opt for a baked version instead of frying them in deep oil.

Baked doughnuts - Recipe for an afternoon treat

Although calories don't count on Fat Thursday, it's better not to indulge in doughnuts without restraint on other days of the year. You can opt for a healthier and lighter version. When my friend brought a plate of these doughnuts to work, everyone rushed to eat them.

The combination of a crispy crust, fluffy centre, and sweet taste makes them hard to resist. And thanks to the lower calorie content, you can enjoy their taste without guilt.

Coconut flour has significantly fewer carbohydrates than wheat flour, which translates to a lower glycaemic index. Instead of sugar, there is also erythritol here, which further reduces the dessert’s calorie content.

  • 50g coconut flour,
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder,
  • 4 teaspoons erythritol,
  • half a teaspoon of baking soda,
  • a pinch of salt,
  • 4 eggs,
  • 150ml milk,
  • 25g butter,
  • dark or milk chocolate,
  • chopped nuts of your choice,
  • coconut flakes.

Instructions:

  1. Place the flour, erythritol, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a bowl and mix.
  2. Add melted butter, crack in the eggs, and pour in the milk. Mix everything thoroughly.
  3. Grease a doughnut pan. You can also make classic doughnuts using muffin pans.
  4. Transfer the batter to the mould.
  5. Place in an oven preheated to 170°C and bake for about 15-17 minutes until the doughnuts are golden.
  6. After baking, set aside to cool.
  7. Dip the tops of the doughnuts in melted chocolate, sprinkle with nuts and flakes, and set aside for the chocolate to harden.

After this time, delicious baked doughnuts are ready. Enjoy!
