Iga Świątek advanced to the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam Roland Garros in fantastic style. The world No. 1 WTA player dismissed Russia's Anastasia Potapova in just 40 minutes, not losing a single game. After the match, she decided to give her wristband to a fan, but it didn't go as planned.

This was the fastest match in Iga Świątek's career on the WTA Tour. Previously, her match against Czech player Karolina Pliskova in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome in 2021 was notable in this regard, ending with a score of 6-0, 6-0 in 46 minutes.

In the fourth round of the Grand Slam Roland Garros, our tennis player needed only 40 minutes to celebrate a final triumph. Her absolute dominance occurred in the match against Anastasia Potapova, who not only failed to win a single game but also scored only 10 points.

Spectacularly, the Pole advanced to the tournament's quarterfinals, which she won in the last two editions. On Tuesday, June 4, at 11:00 PM GMT, she will face the fifth-seeded Czech player Marketa Vondrousova, with the semi-final of the 2024 French Open at stake.

In the match against the Russians, Świątek's wristband was, as usual, on her wrist. However, after the game, our tennis player decided it would go to one of the fans. This did not go as she intended.

While at her bench, the Pole took off the wristband and decided to throw it. However, she didn't manage to throw it far enough. As a result, she immediately began to apologize for her blunder. In the television broadcast, it was noticeable that later, as compensation, the fan received a towel from her.

Świątek's funny mishap was captured by the broadcast crew and later made its way onto the internet. The official Roland Garros profile posted a heavily edited video on the X platform.
