Joao Fonseca was born on August 21, 2006 and has been making a significant impact at the ATP 500 ranked tournament in Rio de Janeiro. He has successfully advanced to the quarterfinals and in his second match scored a 6:4, 6:4 victory against the 2020 champion, Cristian Garin.

Fonseca's successful performance has garnered attention online. Observers have been compelled not only by his effective game but also his distinctive outfit. Sporting white shorts and a shirt with intersecting pink lines, the 17-year-old's outfit is identical to Iga Świątek's from this year's Australian Open.

A popular Tennis TV profile, boasting over 635,000 followers on platform X, took note of this. It shared a clip from Fonseca's match against Garin, and the caption compared him to Poland's standout, female tennis player.

'Want to play on clay? Dress like Iga Świątek' read the humorous caption.

Notably, the tournament in Rio de Janeiro is being played on clay. This is Świątek's preferred surface, having won the Grand Slam Roland Garros three times. If Fonseca continues to emulate not only Świątek's style but also her performance on clay courts, he could soon emerge as a new star in world tennis.

Although Świątek had a disappointing start to the new season, on February 17 she secured her third consecutive victory at the Doha tournament.

On Friday (23.02)GTM, Świątek also competed in the semifinals of the Dubai event, where she faced Russian tennis player Anna Kalinska. However, the WTA ranking leader was unexpectedly eliminated from the tournament, losing 6:4, 6:4.
