Slugs are among the most voracious species of snails. There's a straightforward way to rid your garden of them. You just need to mix two ingredients. You probably already have one of them in your kitchen cupboard.

In our country, there are hundreds of different species of snails. Among them, slugs (snails without shells) deserve special mention. They are the bane of every gardener. In one night, they can severely damage a crop. How to get rid of them? Prepare this simple trap, and you'll forget about these pests for a long time.

Mix with water and place near the garden bed. You'll get rid of slugs

Slugs are large snails without shells. Each differs in appearance and size. They feed on dead organic matter, fungi, and plants, mostly cabbage family members. They love young buds and leaves. They are nocturnal creatures. During the day, they hide in dark and damp shelters, and at night, they look for food.

If you notice them in your garden, you need to take action. Otherwise, you might lose a large portion of your crop. How do you get rid of slugs in the garden? The most effective way is to prepare a trap. For this purpose, you can use beer or... cake flavouring. It turns out that slugs love the smell, and once they sense it, they immediately go towards it.

How to prepare such a trap? Take a small jar and fill it with water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of your chosen cake flavouring (vanilla or rum would be the best). Mix it thoroughly, then dig a small hole near the beds attacked by the snails. Place the jar in the hole and leave it overnight. The next day, you will see the effect. The pests will fall into the trap by themselves.

The cake flavouring trap is cheap, simple, safe, and highly effective. For best results, it's worth preparing several such jars and placing them in spots frequently visited by snails. You can recognise these spots by the characteristic slime trails. The mixture can be enriched with some sugar, yeast, or beer, which slugs love. Repeat the process daily for a few days, and you will rid your garden of these pests.
