Many floor panel owners struggle with streaks that appear after cleaning. The main cause is excess water and unsuitable cleaning agents. Although resistant, panels do not favour too much moisture, as it can lead to stains and warping of the material. Therefore, it's important to use minimal water.

Regular floor cleaners can also leave residues that are visible as streaks once dried. Therefore, it's worthwhile using tried and tested home methods that not only clean effectively but also protect the panel surface.

Home methods for shiny panels

One of the best yet lesser-known methods is to use a dishwasher tablet. Drop one dishwasher tablet into about 3.5 litres of warm water and wait a few seconds for it to dissolve. Dip a mop cloth into the resulting liquid and clean the panels; however, ensure you wring out the excess water well beforehand.

One of the more popular methods is using vinegar. Thanks to its polishing and descaling properties, panels will regain their former shine. Mix half a cup of vinegar with 470 millilitres of water and two tablespoons of olive oil. Apply the prepared solution with a spray bottle and wipe with a microfibre cloth in gentle motions.

Rules for maintaining and daily hygiene of panels

To enjoy shiny panels for years, proper maintenance is essential. Regular vacuuming is key. Removing dust and other dirt before cleaning prevents streak formation. It's always worth using soft microfibre cloths, which effectively collect dirt without scratching the surface.

The cleaning technique also greatly affects the final result. It's best to clean the panels piece by piece, along their lines, to avoid unsightly stains. In areas exposed to more dirt, it's worth cleaning the panels more frequently rather than waiting for the problem to become more visible. This way, the panels will always look like new.
