For quite some time, Ons Jabeur and Paula Badosa have been enjoying the idea of competing for Aryna Sabalenka's attention. It all started with a journalist asking a Belarusian to name her best friend in the tennis world. Since then, the Tunisians and the Spaniards have liked to joke about who among them was Aryna Sabalenka's social number one.
It appears that the three tennis players get along well, and this week, they might spend some time together in Washington, D.C. In the United States, there is a tournament for players not participating in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Ons Jabeur took the opportunity to post a humorous story on Instagram. She photographed Paula Badosa in the arms of Aryna Sabalenka and captioned the photo "cheating," which in Polish can be translated as "deception" but also as "infidelity." The Tunisian added a crying emoji and three hearts.
Top tennis players have withdrawn from the Olympic Games for various reasons. Aryna Sabalenka and Ons Jabeur explained their decision due to concerns for their health. They would have to switch to clay courts between the grass and hard court seasons. Additionally, Aryna Sabalenka could not represent Belarus due to the International Olympic Committee's exclusion.
Aryna Sabalenka will play her first tournament in the United States in over a month. Her latest break this season was due to health problems.
There is no denying, however, that the tournament in Washington, D.C., will be overshadowed by the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
