Video game adaptations have typically not had a good reputation. This is hardly surprising, as most film productions inspired by popular games are best avoided. Regrettably, few exceptions exist. However, when HBO picked up the game titled "The Last of Us," from the outset, it was clear it could be a groundbreaking production. And it truly was.
"The Last of Us" was acclaimed as one of the most significant television events of the past year. On Rotten Tomatoes, "The Last of Us" garnered an impressive 96 percent positive reviews from critics and 88 percent from viewers. The series received three Golden Globe nominations, eight Emmy awards, and the Saturn Award for Best Horror Television of 2023. Critics emphasised that "The Last of Us" is not solely geared towards video game enthusiasts.
Viewer interest in "The Last of Us" was immense. However, there were significant issues watching the premiere episode in the United States. On the day of the premiere, users encountered errors on their screens. DownDetector reported that "HBO Max couldn't fully handle the server load."
Premiere clips from the second season of "The Last of Us" appeared in a video showcasing the most exciting HBO TV productions for the coming months. The exact release date for the new episodes of "The Last of Us" is not yet known, but the series is expected to be available on HBO and the Max platform next year.
