Harris edges ahead: Leads Trump by two points in latest poll

According to the latest survey by Reuters and the Ipsos research centre, Vice President Kamala Harris has gained a two-percentage-point lead over Donald Trump (44 percent to 42 percent) in the U.S. presidential race.
The survey was conducted on Monday and Tuesday following the Republican National Convention, where Donald Trump formally accepted the nomination as the candidate. This also comes after Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he is withdrawing from the race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.
Changes in election polling
As reported by Reuters, Harris and Trump both received 44 percent in a survey conducted on 15-16 July. The latest online survey by Reuters and Ipsos, which included 1,241 adults across the U.S., indicates that Harris has gained an edge over Trump.
The latest survey found that 56 percent of registered voters agree that Harris is "smart and capable of handling challenges," while 49 percent said the same about Trump. Only 22 percent of respondents evaluated Biden in this way.
