The gossipy nun cake. Recipe
Ingredients:
- 300 grams all-purpose flour,
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder,
- 225 grams butter at room temperature,
- 85 grams dark chocolate,
- 120 millilitres milk,
- 200 grams sugar,
- 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar or 1 vanilla bean,
- 4 eggs,
- a pinch of salt.
Preparation:
- Melt the chocolate in a water bath. Remember to stir it frequently and avoid overheating.
- Using a mixer, cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla pulp until fluffy. Next, while continuously mixing, add the eggs one at a time, then the milk, salt, and sifted flour with baking powder.
- Divide the batter into three equal parts. Mix one of them with the cooled melted chocolate.
- Prepare a loaf tin: line it with parchment paper, grease it, and dust it with breadcrumbs or flour.
- Pour the plain batter into the bottom, then add the chocolate batter and another layer of plain batter.
- Using a toothpick, create a pattern on the cake—draw from one end to the other (parallel to the longer side), cutting through the dessert and creating curves. Remember not to drag the toothpick across the top.
- Bake the gossipy nun cake at 170°C for 60 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Check the cake at 1800 GMT.
