Google Maps in Android Auto is receiving another minor update that could enhance travel. The manufacturer has decided to refresh the navigation interface and alter the lane guidance assistant graphics. Drivers will now see much larger symbols, making it easier for them to position themselves on the road.

Google Maps is getting another interface update, noticeable in Android Auto. As reported by 9to5Google, some drivers already see the refreshed lane guidance assistant graphics. The symbols indicate which lane to take to reach the correct exit. Previously, the graphics were relatively small and could be unreadable for some.

The refreshed lane guidance assistant graphics in Google Maps display in the same place as before, above the main instruction for the next navigation manoeuvre. The arrows representing the lane layout are now much larger and separated by small dashes, which may help "count in the head" which lane should be occupied to reach the correct exit. This is crucial, especially on multi-lane, complex interchanges.

Simultaneously, a highly anticipated feature for reporting road issues is also appearing in Google Maps in Android Auto. As usual, Google activates such novelties on the server side in batches. As a result, not all drivers can use them immediately. Drivers must remain patient and ensure updates to both the Google Maps and Android Auto apps to see new options in their cars as soon as possible.

Reporting road hazards is a function that appeared several years earlier on smartphones. The waiting time for its implementation in the Google Maps version of Android Auto can undoubtedly be surprising.
