Germany to send 4,000 AI‑powered kamikaze drones to Ukraine

Germany will soon commence mass deliveries of kamikaze drones to Ukraine, reports Bild, citing its sources and Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. The 4,000 drones are referred to as "mini-Taurus."

Germany is set to start large-scale deliveries of assault drones manufactured by Helsing to Ukraine, which are capable of hitting targets far from the front line. These drones are likened to the Taurus missiles, which Chancellor Olaf Scholz has categorically refused to supply.

As "Bild" describes, the drone's primary feature is its sophisticated software, which aids it in "navigating" the terrain and resisting enemy electronic warfare measures. Once the drone identifies a target and its operator verifies it, the machine can execute an attack even if communication is lost.

The flight range is reportedly four times that of typical Ukrainian kamikaze drones, and they are significantly cheaper than the American Switchblade or Russian Lancets.

Thousands of drones for Ukraine

Ukraine is set to receive 4,000 of these drones. Beginning in December, they will be delivered in batches of several hundred per month.

The drone prototypes are already being tested in real combat conditions in eastern Ukraine.

Pistorius stated that he is "very happy that the delivery of these drones equipped with AI technology is already starting" and that Ukraine can use them against important enemy targets, such as command posts.
