The fire broke out on Thursday afternoon (12th December) in one of the workshops on Portova Street. Nine fire engines and a total of 30 rescue workers were dispatched to the scene.

"The insulation and corrugated metal covering are burning (...) To prevent an explosion, 45 litres of diesel fuel, 23 litres of acetone, and 1 gas cylinder were removed from the burning building," TASS quoted one of the rescuers.

According to the latest data from the Russian agency, firefighters managed to locate the source of the fire and control the situation. The flames did not spread to neighbouring buildings on the shipyard premises. Nevertheless, the fire destroyed roofing and panels over an area of 80 square metres.

There is no information about any casualties. The causes of the fire are being determined. A special commission is to be appointed for the case.
