Ferry and barge collide in Hamburg port, 11 injured

In the port of Hamburg, a ferry collided with a barge, resulting in 11 people being injured. One person is in a life-threatening condition.

On Monday morning, a serious accident occurred in the port of Hamburg. A cruise ferry collided with a barge on the River Elbe, causing a side of the ship to break off.

Germany. Ferry accident. There are injured

As a result of this incident, 11 people were injured, and one of them sustained life-threatening injuries.

The collision occurred at around 12:43 a.m. GMT near the Köhlbrand Bridge in the southwestern part of Hamburg. Despite severe damage, the ferry reached the dock. The German water police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Hamburg, the largest seaport in Germany, is one of the busiest in Europe. It is situated on the River Elbe, about 100 kilometres from its mouth in the North Sea.
