A 72-year-old man from Spain is believed to be responsible for the deaths of his grandchildren. The senior allegedly committed suicide afterwards. It turns out that a month earlier, he caused an accident that killed his wife and daughter. According to the Daily Mail, this is not the first such horrific tragedy in Spain.

The Daily Mail reported on the family tragedy in Spain. It occurred in the small town of Huétor Tájar, near Granada.

It all started on Sunday when the police and an elite unit of the Civil Guard from Madrid received a message that a man had barricaded himself in a house. It was determined that he had a hunting rifle licence. Just before the incident, he quarrelled with his son-in-law. The man was likely experiencing a crisis after the accident.

The Daily Mail, citing the results of the investigation, reports that one of the grandsons had gunshot wounds, and the other grandson died from suffocation. The children were 10 and 13 years old. Shortly after their deaths, the 72-year-old allegedly took his own life.

The authorities entered the apartment with intervention, but the mentioned individuals were already deceased. The Mayor of Huétor Tájar, Fernando Delgado, declared three days of mourning in the municipality and suspended the last day of the local festival.

We would like to convey our sorrow at this time, and offer all our support and condolences to the families of those affected - the Daily Mail quotes his statement.

The man previously caused an accident. His wife and daughter died

The media report that on 19 March, an accident occurred. The 72-year-old man was driving, and he crashed his car into a wall at the entrance to a tunnel. His wife and daughter, the mother of the two found children, were taken to the hospital but died.

Another person likely travelled in the car but only suffered a broken leg.

The Daily Mail reports that this is not the first family tragedy in Spain. Recently, a 35-year-old man allegedly murdered his two daughters by poisoning them with pesticides. Similarly, in 2021, a father reportedly took the lives of his daughters and threw their bodies into the Atlantic Ocean.
