One of the Reddit users, an airport employee, shared his knowledge about packing luggage. He believes people travelling by airlines such as EasyJet, Ryanair, British Airways, Jet2, and TUI should avoid packing certain problematic items.
These items are better left out of your suitcase
This includes food products, beverages (especially alcohol), medicines, and perfumes. "These items can rot, crack, leak, or open. Alcohol, in particular, emits a smell that can linger for an entire day after receiving a leaking suitcase," he explains.
Another forum user highlighted the advantages of sturdy, wheeled suitcases, especially those with four wheels, which are lightweight, easy to handle, and safe. He also noted how important it is to remove old baggage tags to avoid mistakes during sorting:
Additional tips for travellers
"Remove old tags. If you have a baggage tag from two years ago and several others, it takes us much longer to find the correct date, and if we misinterpret it, it can end up in the wrong place," advise the internet users.
Another experienced traveller shared a tip for packing crease-free clothes: "Pack a full suitcase if possible. Of course, people like to leave room for shopping, but to maintain stability and the shape of the suitcase, fill it with something like newspaper or bubble wrap so that the clothes don’t shift (this will reduce creases in shirts and dresses)," he explained.
"Choosing a suitcase as ugly as sin ensures that no one will take it from the baggage carousel when you need to use the toilet or go through customs for a bit longer. It is also easy to spot," adds someone else.
