European military coalition in Ukraine: Zelensky's vision grows
In Europe, a debate is ongoing about the idea of sending a contingent consisting of troops from various Western countries to Ukraine. This idea has appealed to Volodymyr Zelensky. The Ukrainian president believes it could be the beginning of a "European army" that could confront Russia.
Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Monday that a joint military contingent of European countries in Ukraine could be the first step toward establishing a unified European armed force capable of responding to renewed Russian aggression.
The President of Ukraine assessed that "significant progress" has been made on the issue of sending an international contingent to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president stated that the first step is the presence of both the Ukrainian army and European armed forces on Ukrainian territory. He expressed his belief that this would serve as the foundation for the future creation of a European military force capable of responding across air, sea, and land, utilising drones and artificial intelligence in the event of an unprovoked war from Russia.
Allied troops in Ukraine?
Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in an article published Saturday evening in "The Telegraph", stated that he is ready to send British troops to Ukraine to enforce the terms of a peace agreement. He is expected to present this proposal on Monday at an unofficial meeting of European heads of state in Paris.
Maria Malmer Stenergard, head of Swedish diplomacy, also did not rule out sending troops to Ukraine after concluding an agreement with Russia.
Donald Tusk also weighed in on this issue. The Prime Minister declared that Poland does not foresee sending soldiers to Ukrainian territory.
