Euro 2024. Swiss team refuels with kebabs after bold win over Italy

Switzerland's representatives decided to replenish the missing calories after their 2-0 win against Italy, which secured a place in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals. They sought energy in droves at a kebab stand.

One footballer after another, all fascinated by the speciality of Turkish cuisine. The Swiss representatives watched curiously as the field kitchen's chef hurriedly prepared the delicacies.

The official account of the Swiss team showed a short scene after the 2-0 win against Italy. The players deserved an energetic meal after defeating the previous European Championship winners. Switzerland overwhelmed Italy and did not allow them to showcase much excitement at the start of the knockout phase.

The Swiss have nearly a week to prepare for the quarter-finals, so they treated themselves to a cheat day from their diet during Euro 2024. That's not unusual. Players, directly after matches, eat things like pizza to replenish what's missing after intense physical exertion.

The Swiss went for kebabs. They weren’t the first. The Slovenians celebrated their first-ever advancement from the group stage of a major football tournament with kebabs in their hands and stomachs. This was thanks to Lukas Podolski, who sent his company's kebabs to his Górnik Zabrze teammate, Erik Janža.

Time will tell if the kebab gives the Swiss the power for an even bigger surprise in Euro 2024 than advancing to the top eight. Their opponent in the quarter-final will be England, who didn't show much excitement in their previous four matches.

Meanwhile, there were no kebab reviews on Swiss social media. Judging by the recording, both the appetite and expectations were high.
