EU pledges an additional £4.3 billion in support for Ukraine
The European Union will boost its support for the Ukrainian armed forces with an extra £4.3 billion, as decided by the foreign affairs chiefs of the member states. These funds will be allocated to Ukraine through a special assistance fund.

On Monday in Brussels, the foreign ministers of the European Union countries convened, with Poland represented by its foreign minister, Radosław Sikorski. At this gathering, an agreement was reached on additional financial backing for Ukraine.
Extra EU Support for Ukraine
The accord among the member states was shared via the X service by the EU's top diplomat.
The Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) endorsed my proposition for an added £4.3 billion towards the new Instrument for Supporting Ukraine. This fund is earmarked to aid Ukraine in obtaining the military gear crucial for defending its sovereignty and its right to exist as a state against Russian hostility. Our promises are being translated into deeds – Josep Borrell articulated.
As per the announcement on EU websites, these monies are designated for "lethal and non-lethal military equipment and training". Following this decree, the financial cap for this support from 2021 to 2027 will surpass £14.5 billion.
Instrument for Supporting Ukraine
On February 1, the European Council reaffirmed the EU's steadfast pledge to continue backing Ukraine for as long as needed. It also secured £43 billion in aid for the beleaguered nation up till 2027.
