Escape cow causes havoc in northern Portugal streets
On Friday, residents of northern Portugal witnessed an unusual event. A cow that had escaped from a pen at an agricultural school in Molares travelled roughly 6 kilometres to reach Mondim de Basto. The animal caused real chaos on the roads.
The operation to capture the cow lasted several hours. The animal did not stay in one place for long, running on pavements, roads, and even entering shops. Videos online show local residents in a panic, fleeing or hiding from the cow, which resembled a bull.
Some brave individuals tried to assist local authorities, who were alerted to the animal's presence on the streets. The operation involved several people, including police officers and civil defence personnel. Ultimately, the cow was successfully chased out of the town.
Return to the pen
After nearly four hours, the cow returned to the school pen. According to local authorities, the animal did not cause significant damage, but its presence on the streets was a big surprise for residents. TVN24 reports that the situation was brought under control, and the cow safely returned to its place.
