The 79-year-old Eric Clapton, one of the most influential guitarists in rock history, is once again the talk of the fans thanks to the premiere of his new album, "Meanwhile." With nearly six decades of career and around 100 singles to his name, the legendary musician shared a photo on Instagram promoting the latest release.
The rock legend poses in a casual outfit: a black jacket, blue shirt, grey top, and beige hat. Interestingly, Clapton's appearance drew the most attention from fans. Many were surprised at how much the musician has changed since releasing his most popular records.
The musician informed his fans that the latest album features extraordinary guests. Clapton collaborated with the likes of Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Bradley Walker, Judith Hill, Daniel Santiago, and Simon Climie in creating it.
Clapton returns! He announced a new album
I had to fight to get out because it was going to be pushed back til next year, admitted Clapton in an interview with "Blues Rock Review".
He also added that the album is a collection of tracks created over the last three to four years, often at home due to the pandemic. Limited by government restrictions, these recordings led him to name the album "Meanwhile".
The musician also pointed out that although home recordings somewhat limit the album, he feels the need to present it to a broader audience. Some tracks might also feature on the concert tour, although Clapton admits he primarily intends to play the classics that the public expects.
Eric Clapton's incredible career
Clapton's career began in the early '60s when the musician played in small pubs, which opened the door to the blues band The Yardbirds. After the success of the hit "For Your Love", Clapton left the band, gaining even greater recognition as a member of the group Cream. Then, he began to be seen as one of the UK's best guitarists.
After Cream broke up in 1968, the musician focused on his solo career. He released his debut album, "Eric Clapton," in 1970, which reached the 14th position on the UK charts. Since then, Clapton has released a total of 19 solo albums.
