According to information provided by RBC-Ukraine, Erdogan highlighted the necessity of dialogue and agreement to end the hostilities.
"We can easily end this war"
"We can easily end this war if we see a Trump administration that approaches the issue with a solution-based perspective. More dialogue, diplomacy, agreement will open the door to peace, not weapons, bombs and conflict," said the Turkish president.
Erdogan expressed confidence that a greater emphasis on diplomacy could pave the way to peace. He added that efforts by the West, led by the USA, to end the war could significantly accelerate reaching an agreement.
Donald Trump previously declared that if he were elected, he could ensure peace in Ukraine within 24 hours, although he did not specify how he would resolve this complex conflict, which is the largest land war in Europe since World War II.
Trump: I will end the war in 24 hours
Turkey supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and condemns Russia's actions; however, it does not support Western sanctions against Moscow. At the same time, it maintains significant relationships with Russia in the fields of energy, tourism, and defence.
Since March, Turkey has actively called for negotiations and has offered mediation. Erdogan noted that his country has already brought both sides to the negotiating table several times and is prepared to do so again.
At the beginning of September, Trump declared that upon assuming the presidency, he would immediately contact Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate peace within 24 hours. In September, Trump also met with Zelensky, who presented him with his victory plan. After the talks, Trump emphasised that "we both want to see this end, and we both want to see a fair deal made."
