Elon Musk, owner of companies including SpaceX and Tesla, donated to America PAC, a foundation supporting former U.S. President Donald Trump's election campaign. The donation amount was not disclosed, but unofficial reports suggest a "significant amount." The agency claims that in this way, Musk wants to "leave a mark on the U.S. political landscape." Musk himself has not commented on these reports.
America PAC can receive unlimited donations but is required to disclose the list of donors by 15 July. Bloomberg recalls that in March of this year, 78-year-old Trump, who is to be formally nominated as the Republican Party candidate in next November's U.S. presidential election next week, met with Musk and other wealthy donors.
Elon Musk, born in South Africa and one of the wealthiest people in the world with an estimated wealth of over £160 billion, is said to have stated at the time that the United States needs the Republican Party in power; otherwise, "America will be finished."
U.S. elections. Biden does not want to step down
The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for 5 November. Donald Trump is likely to compete for victory with the incumbent President Joe Biden, who on Friday, at a pre-election meeting in Detroit, once again declared that he does not intend to step down from running for the highest office in the country.
For the past two weeks, some Democrats and their supporters have called on Biden to step down. This call was made by actor and film producer George Clooney, among others.
Clooney assessed that "none of us can win" the war with time. And that's what 81-year-old Biden is struggling with. - It is devastating that I say this, but Joe Biden, whom I was with three weeks ago at a fundraiser, was not the Biden of 2010. He was not even Joe Biden from 2020. He was the same man we all saw during the debate," wrote the star in an op-ed published in "The New York Times".
